Who are behind the cattery name Ginie’s?

Everyone in our family is a cat person.

I, Merja Björn, have been breeding pedigree cats since 1997.

(This is my first "satelite"-female "Okonor Doreen"-All inquires to cattery Miado, catterymiado@aol.co.uk)

I make breeding plans and take care of the well-being of our cats.

My husband Tomi takes accurate care of our cats, he feeds them according to their personal needs, and he has also furnished our house to be cat-friendly.

My sons Ben, 19, and Joel, 15, are very talented in making our kittens social, thus even the shyest kitten in the litter is brave and courageous when he leaves our household. My sons also build original activity toys for our cats, such as agility tracks, labyrinths and climbing walls.

I know quite well the principles of live food for cats, or diet that “resembles mouse” as much as possible.

We like the Oriental cat races because they are simply beautiful as jewellery, very catlike, elegant and very affectionate, emotional and bonding.

(Old Thai saying: ”a poor person should not get a Siamese cat because he will sit down and admire his cat and get only poorer”)

Our breeding is based almost totally on imported cats, because in our country the population is so small that import of new breeding material is important for our own breeding and the whole race. Our goal is as “streamlined”, typical of the race, healthy and balanced cat as possible, the cat’s type is more important than colour, to quote the Grand old lady of cat world Ms Alva Uddin: “First you need to have a house before you can start painting”.

Concerning colours, we are unanimously fallen in love with”cow cats” meaning bicolour and seychellois patterns.

Seal/black Siamese/Oriental is always a stunning sight… and diluted colours… and classic tabbies… and ticked tabbies… etc… J

When leaving the house, Ginie’s cats are:

- Minimum 12-14 weeks old (exported cats preferably near 6 months)

- checked by veterinarian to be healthy

- Twice vaccinated according to FIFE rules

- dewormed

- microchipped (kittens meant for breeding and shows)

(Pet quality kittens are sold with neutering/spaying agreement).
